As a former educator, I worked as a Substitute Teacher in a wide range of classroom settings in the Pottstown area from 2004 to 2013. I taught between three school districts in rooms ranging from Kindergarten to 8th grade. I have instructed in many special subjects including Art, Gym, Computers, Health, Music, Library, and Special Education. My bachelor's degree, background knowledge, and experiences have been more than enough to prepare me to implement the lesson plans left by an absent teacher.
My teaching style is generally relaxed. I like to treat students as if they were five years older than their actual age. Overall I have found great success treating students in this manner. While not every student is pleased to see me, they do know that I treat them fairly, firmly, and consistently. Any student who has had me more than once knows that I expect them to complete their assignments to the best of their ability. They also know that I will do everything within my power to help them understand a concept, solve a problem, or prevent them from being bullied.
During my studies to become a Master of Classroom Technology, I created a page on Wikispaces. I wanted to showcase Wikispace as a powerful tool in the classroom as well as other technology I felt could be used in the classroom. Most of these online tools could also be used in other settings outside of education.
